IT´S BEEN WOVEN FOR 10.000 YEARS.
LINEN TAKES US TO A MORE NATURAL WAY OF LIFE.

In search of true comfort, at From:BEA we've meticulously studied LINEN's properties. This plant has been used for producing fibre since prehistoric ages.
Its botanical name is:

el lino

“linum

usitatissimum”

Linum comes from celtic “lin” meaning “thread” and “usitatissimum” is a Latin name meaning “very useful”.

ABOUT 10,000 YEARS AGO ITS SOFT TOUCH WAS DISCOVERED BRINGING THIS FIBRE INTO EVERYDAY LIFE.

But… why use linen?

We all recognise its softness, coolness and pleasant natural touch. It's perfect for your skin, it won’t irritate or produce allergies, it’s a hypo-allergenic fabric. It is proven that fabrics made with natural fibres clearly improve our quality of life.

Thanks to its hollow fibres, linen has the advantage that it dries faster than other than other natural fibres and withstands frequent washing. It is said that its texture becomes more beautiful with years of use, the more it is washed, the softer it becomes.

The qualities of the flax fibre remain unchanged regardless of the ambient humidity or temperature.

OUR LINEN IS GROWN ALONG THE NORMANDY COAST IN NORTHERN FRANCE.

It needs a gentle climate that combines sun, rain and wind. As they are naturally occurring fibres, they will probably have irregularities and imperfections and it will be difficult to find two identical threads. In fact, they say LINEN is a “noble” fabric because it doesn’t hide from its 1OO% roots, its irregularities are what make it unique.

At from: BEA, our passion for linen stemmed from its cultivation being sustainable and consequently environmentally friendly as it requires little water and a minimum of pesticides and fertilisers and at the end of its life cycle, its natural fibres are 1OO% biodegradable.

Following our simple care instructions will allow you to conserve and enjoy your products for a very long time, even... Passing from generation to generation while still looking their best!

– Drying

When removing products from the washing machine, shake them out and pull straight the decorative stitching. The cotton thread may have shrunk slightly, this is completely normal and it will return to normal when it dries.

If you have tablecloth, we recommend folding it in half lengthways, stretching out any wrinkles in the middle and hanging it about the centre (it's better not to use pegs as they leave marks). Alternatively, you can lay it flat to dry stretching it out to avoid creases.

Do not tumble dry, the product will shrink due to the excess heat.

Never wring dry.

– Ironing

Iron when still a little damp. We use a domestic steam generator iron. They turn out amazing!

Before you begin ironing, stretch out the decorative stitching by tugging gently.

If the product has a front and back, embroidered motifs or initials, we recommend first ironing the back at a medium temperature and if it's done with a towel underneath, even better!

*Ironing Tip

If you are in a hurry to dry your napkins or placemats, when you take them out of the washing machine, shake off the excess water, stretch out the decorative stitching and lay them out on a thick cotton towel to absorb the moisture, (you can use 2, or fold 1 to make it thicker). Now iron without steam at a medium temperature, you’ll be amazed at how quickly they dry!

– How should I store it?

You love its freshness, shine, softness and don't mind its wrinkles, its somewhat casual look and you take care of it as it deserves.

NEVER store 1OO% LINEN products wrapped in, or on plastic.

Try to air them occasionally and more importantly, USE THEM!
